What I Like

For those who'd like to know, this is where I'm musically at....

  • With the exception of country music, I pretty much listen to almost anything. I grew up on alt-rock and hard rock, so that is where most of my attention lies. However, I also thoroughly enjoy classic rock, singer/songwriter acts, metal, industrial, and a bit of rap.
  • If I had to list my top five artists, it would shake out like this: Tool, They Might Be Giants, Tori Amos, The Eels, and Stone Sour.
  • I love acoustic music. Given the option between downloading the original version of a song and an acoustic version, I'll pick the acoustic one. Heck, I'll probably get both.
  • I am heavily intrigued by cover songs. I'll spend large amounts of time on iTunes digging around looking for cover songs of songs I already love. In some cases, I'll end up enjoying the cover more than the original--for instance, Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails, although I recently found an acoustic version of "Hurt" from Trent Reznor that I absolutely adore now.
  • Related to both of these is my love for live albums. That's where a lot of experimental stuff happens, like covers and acoustic turns on songs.
  • Given my overall love of music, you'd think I've been to a lot of concerts. You'd be wrong. I've been to They Might Be Giants thrice, Guster/John Mayer, K's Choice/The Verve Pipe, Train/Matchbox 20, Harvey Danger, System of a Down, and Tool.
